Top 9 Places to Eat Lunch On & Around Campus

1. SOHO Sushi Burrito

"I'm sorry, did you just say sushi burrito?" Why, yes I did! In the UNLV Student Union, we have a full functioning Sushi Burrito bar. This a place where you can combine all your favorite burrito ingredients and all your favorite sushi ingredients to build the most wonderful hybrid-burrito! Here are some of the options you have:

2. Chipotle

If you've never heard of Chipotle before, it's obvious you haven't tasted one of the best build-your-own burritos ever, but that's okay, I'm sure you'll enjoy one, two, or perhaps hundreds, while you're a student here. Chipotle is conveniently located right across the street from UNLV on Maryland Pkwy and Harmon Rd. This build-your-own burrito place has so much to offer, extending to bowls, salads, and quesadillas. It's a very popular place for students to have lunch/dinner! We love it.

3. Cafe Rio

If you've never heard of Cafe Rio either, you are surely missing out. This Mexican Grill is home to some of the best salads and wet-burritos around. So many students take their lunch break right across the street at Cafe Rio. My personal favorite is a pork salad with their House Dressing, it is to die for. One of the "healthier" options close to campus, students have a wide variety of options at Cafe Rio, ranging from soups to salads to burritos to quesadillas to their weekly specials. They even have an app for you to download and earn points towards a free $10 off.

4. In-N-Out

That's what a hamburger is all about, people! In-n-out has been around since as early as the 1950s, but unfortunately, they are only located in some states on the Western part of the country. If you choose UNLV, you will never run out of chances to get yourself a double-double and animal-style fries. Many of our students head to In-n-out for lunch time, as you don't even have to leave campus to get there. In-n-out is located right of the corner of University Rd and Maryland Parkway, just next to our Greenspun Hall.

5. Aloha Kitchen

That's right! There is Hawaiian food within just a few feet of campus. Located right next to the In-n-out, Aloha Kitchen gives students the option to eat delicious Hawaiian cuisine for a very reasonable price. They even have a student special for as low as $4.99 for a bowl of teriyaki chicken and rice. Who doesn't love teriyaki chicken and rice? In addition, to their student specials, Aloha Kitchen sells Hawaiian cuisine, like lumpia, kalbi beef, spam musubi, katsu chicken, and so much more!

6. Bowlology

What is this place? Do they just sell bowls? If that's what you think, you're far from right. Bowlology is healthy kitchen and juice bar, in which they handcraft healthy and delicious meals IN A BOWL. You have so many choices, like Super Bowls, packed with protein and fruit toppings. You can also get some of their signature bowls, like poke bowls with fish and other sushi-based ingredients. You won't run out of healthy and delicious options at Bowlology.

7. Subway

If you don't know what Subway is, it might be safe to say you live under rock. But rest assured, we have not one, but TWO Subway restaurants right on campus. You can grab a $5 footlong whenever you feel like it. It's one of students' favorite grab and go spots.

8. Food Trucks

That's right, I said there are food trucks right on campus. Located in several areas of campus, there are many food trucks that make their way onto campus for the lunch time rush. Some of these trucks include:

- Ben's BBQ and Smokehouse: Pulled pork, brisket, and BBQ tacos

- Sin City Wings: Chicken wings, tenders, and sliders

- Haulin Balls LV: Sandwiches (meatball, tuna, beef, and lamb specials)

- Coast 2 Coast Deli: City-themed sandwiches, salads, and vegetarian options

- Strada Press: paninis, wraps, and veggie options

- Sausagefest: beef, bratwurst, and veggie sandwich options

- Burgerfest: Burgers, duh

- Tacofest: Tacos, duh

There are so many others amazing trucks, where students can grab a quick bite to eat at amazing prices, and in the most convenient way.

9. Capstone Cafe

The Capstone Cafe is a student-run restaurant, in which they create their own restaurant one-day in the semester. There are 10-25 of these events per semester, and the lunch special are $10 for a 3-course meal, you can't beat that. Not only will you be supporting our Hospitality students, you'll also be receiving a delicious meal in return! Menus are up to the capstone committees, but range from Asian inspired menus to Mexican or Italian, and so many others. Students love when Capstone season is in full swing!
