Simple Tips on the First Days
This is the first of 12 post in the Tips for Success Series. This series is to help Rebels through the semester with tips and tricks for those high grades in the classroom. It may even help you keep your sanity on the worst of days!
First days of anything can be a bit confusing. The first day for me was filled with a whole lot of getting lost inside the campus. I looked like a tourist with a map on my hand with a confused face. I remember I once circled one building just trying to look at the buildings name so that I would know where i am on the map. Here are a few things to do in order to avoid getting lost on the first day
1.Attend orientation
Personally for me it was even more difficult to get to know where the place is because I didn't make it on time to attend orientation. UNLV, being the generous people they are, excused me for not attending orientation and allowed me to join. The tricky part is that you get lost easily if you have never been here at UNLV.
2. Avoid rush hour on campus
There is a lot of movement during the day time especially around the time when class ends which is usually around 10am, 11am, and 2pm. If you are a new freshman, trying to get from one point to another can be difficult, so avoid it if you can. Getting outside at this times, sometimes you see...
3. Travel inside the campus
Since most places on campus are there for student use, you can check out any building even when you don't have any business for being there. Whenever you get free time on your hand, just go around the campus in on an attempt of knowing the in and outs of the campus. Of course, you are going to be lost a couple of times like me, or you might be better, but don't worry the campus is total safe with its own police force stationed right across the street. Real police officers are on duty so don't worry about ruining into some trouble; plus UNLV is filled with only friendly people so you should not even let that thought cross your mind. Remember don't do it during rush hours.
Look for a place from a top of a building (I recommend the hospitality building on campus), and then just go on journey to go to that spot without using the map.
